Colonic hydrotherapy is a gentle treatment which involves the slow introduction of warm, filtered water into the bowel through a small tube called a speculum that is gently inserted about an inch and a half into the rectum. We use disposable equipment and work on closed systems which means that there is no mess or smell, and that dignity is preserved throughout.
The water is introduced at a very low and carefully controlled pressure. The water, together with gentle abdominal massage, helps to loosen and soften accumulated matter which is then expelled naturally by the colon and piped away with the waste water. This filling and emptying, interspersed with abdominal massage, is repeated several times during the treatment and aims to gently cleanse the whole length of the large intestine.
The process is very safe and we will ensure you feel comfortable and well-informed throughout. You’ll be given privacy to change and have access to private toilet facilities. You will only be exposed for a few seconds for the insertion of the speculum, and after that you’ll remain covered throughout the treatment.
Book today to say goodbye to toxins and hello to a healthier you!
What can it help with
Colonic irrigation and enemas are amongst the oldest recorded medical treatment; dating back to 1500 BC in ancient medical texts such as the Eber Papyrus and Susruta Samhita. They were introduced much later into western society. In today's modern world there is a lack of clinical trials substantiating the effectiveness of colonic cleansing benefits .
However, experience shows us that colonics can provide relief from the symptoms listed below, and many clients often find that colonics offer help where modern medicine has failed.
A Colonic Irrigation treatment usually takes between 40 - 60 minutes to complete, however please allow time either side to discuss any current issues and following aftercare advice. It's helpful to avoid eating or drinking heavily in the two hours before your Colonic treatment. There is nothing in the treatment which is painful and your modesty is preserved to the utmost. After the Colonic hydrotherapy session is over, you can go about your daily business. It's advisable to drink plenty of fluids, eat lightly and avoid alcohol for the following twenty-four hours.
If this is your first colonic hydrotherapy session with us we will take an in depth history of your overall health and lifestyle and give an explanation of the equipment and procedure. which can take up to an additional 45-60 minutes to complete.
